Ahhh. The weeks before Christmas. Always awesome, busy, filled with wine, lacking sleep, you know it. I think I've had something on every single night for two weeks straight now. And while I completely love this time of year, I could probably do with a quiet evening of reading on the porch!
So, some of the little things I've been up to are...
Enjoying amazing sunsets like this while I catch the ferry into the city. I love love love where I live. I love that it's near amazing beaches and on a little patch of land a bit like an island, with one long road in and out that always makes me feel like I'm going on holiday, even if I've just been to somewhere boring. I also love that, thanks to the ferry, it is only 10 minutes from town and I get to soak in views like this for less than the cost of a coffee. Bliss.
Organising a Christmas present for my Uncle. If you got given a photo of this of all your grandkids, you'd be pretty stoked, right?
Making cookies like this with a little friend. How cute are they?! This stamp was not-cheap, but I thought it was totally worth it.
Getting a letter like this after donating some books through work to a school fair. How cute and lovely!
Enjoying this spread with some friends last night. It might not look like much, but I can assure you this was only about one third of what was on offer. The reason I took this photo was because my awesome, clever mum made the quince paste in the bowl AND the lavosh crackers. She's so talented. Or maybe I'm just lazy - it would never occur to me to see store-bought lavosh crackers as something that could be made better at home. But she did and they went down a treat.
I have a very full weekend planned which I'm super excited about. Life is just fun right now, after two really tough months I'm feeling really positive and happy. HOORAY.

That quince paste looks even better than the Maggie Beer kind:)
ReplyDeleteI am convinced that it is! My mum is pretty amazing.
DeleteThanks for your comment! Your blog is awesome!
Quince paste! Sadly I don't get to take some home this year as my parents' quince tree seems to be having some fruiting issues. Dad did make some cumquat paste, but I am not a fan of cumquat preserves! :(
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the biscuit stamp? I love it!
I love the stamp too! I got it at a little store in Ponsonby, Auckland, but you can get it at a few places online - if you search 'home made cookie stamp' in google and etsy you will get some online stores. Buy one! They make baking a lot of fun. Thanks for your comment :)
